    Hi,

I've just received my new Mark XVIII from IWC today. The watch is awesome, but
the packaging wasn't as I was expecting. It came in a leather pouch in a
service box with the warranty card but no paperwork - manual, cloth etc.

The IWC salesman has told me that this is standard for all new deliveries now
    - no nice box/paperwork etc.

I guess it doesn't matter too much as I'm not planning to sell it, but I'd
    rather have the full kit.

Can anyone verify that the salesman is saying, or has had a new watch
    delivered like this recently?

    Thanks, Steve

Did you buy direclty from IWC or from an AD? My Mark XVIII from an AD last
year came with the box, manual, warranty card, cloth, etc. I don't know what
you mean by "paperwork". I think manufacturers like Oris are trending
towards delivering new pieces in cases, pouches, watch rolls and the like.
It's cheaper and more eco-friendly. It wouldn't surprise me if IWC or all of
    Richemont are doing this now.

It was direct from IWC. I just meant the manuals and cloth etc. What type of
box did you get with yours? I got a box, but it's the small travel box with a
small hole for the leather pouch rather than the larger wooden box that I've
    seen pictures of on here.

To be honest though I'm enjoying the watch so much it doesn't seem like it's
    worth whinging about!

I'm just wondering if I want to sell it in 10 years time I might want to have
    the original box

The box we all know, is being phased out.

From what I know, a box containing the travel pouch is the new packaging. It's
    far more practical too.

Hello Steve and welcome to the forum. When you say you purchased direct from
IWC - did you purchase online from the IWC e-commerce website? I had heard
that the packaging was going to change and that more environmentally friendly
options were being considerd - maybe this is it? It would be great if you
could post a photo or two of the packaging you recieved, I would love to see
the travel box and the leather pouch.

I am curious about the lack of manual and polishing cloth. Especially the
manual - I don't see a quick link on the IWC website to download manuals and
to not provide manuals at all doesn't make sense.

    Hi Steve,

I believe this is IWC's initative into more environmentally friendly
    packaging.

The polishing cloth was always a nice addition but if I'm honest I've never
once used them in the various watches I've owned.

As for the manuals, in an effort to go paperless, they are available for
download on the website and in the past I've requested elecrionic (see: PDF)
    copies of manuals from the
    Concierge.

If this is the new package it would be great if you could post some pictures.

Environment friendly either cheap, it is still part of the experience.

will be great to see the pics.

From practicality perspecitve, it is actually better. Travel watch roll is
    more useful.

But I am not sure if this has any impact on the experience of buying a brand
    new watch.

Asked some inside info from headquarters, and here are some pictures and
    answers.

The new packaging includes a pouch made with genuine leather which is even
more expensive than the old box made out of plastic.

Our new concept is to deliver a high quality product which will be used by the
end customer. In the past we have noticed that lots of packaging has been
thrown away as left at boutiques or wholesalers.

But in the cardboard (service box) all the paperwork the customer mentioned as
manual, cloth etc. should be included. If there is something missing it has
    happened by mistake.

In addition we offer a box which can be used to collect four pouches. This is
a sellable good as there as well we do not want to have packaging thrown away,
so this has to be bought by purpose.

So there are 3 boxes, depending on the pricepoint, the watch is delivered in
one of these. The fun part is that you can make a collectors box with 4
watches, with the 4 individual pouches from box A and put them together in Box
    B or box C.

Thank you for the info Tonny.

I'm hoping Collector's Box will be available in carbon fibre as the IWC
Collection boxes have been in the past.

    Tank you Tonny!

These seem to be very nice optional packaging for customers, it's a pretty and
    sober
design matching the brand style. I like the "choice" part very much.

Can't wait to see these in the real world.

    Thanks again.

    Cheers.

So you should ask for the IWC salesman for your cloth and manual.

What's most important is the warranty card. You should have received that.

Hi, apologies for no response, been offline for a bit. I did have the manuals.
I received 'Box A' in the pics above. When I unboxed I completely overlooked
the slide out drawer at the bottom and seeing the older boxes thought that I
    had the wrong box.

Thanks for the excellent information and apologies for the confusion!

The warranty card was included but with no date. I'm chasing the sales guy for
that and confrmation that it was electronically registered now.

    Cheers, Steve

Glad to hear you got it sorted out Steve.

I wouldn't worry too much about the warranty card being filled out as long as
they registered it with IWC you should be fine.
