    Today I received a parcel with a new piece for the colletion.
    I bought it at an auction in Holland last week. And now I am very happy to have a cal 47 in my collection. Cal 47, Elgin III.
    It was sold to a Dutch dealer in 1888.
    There are some great posts in the archives about the cal 47/48
    Here they are post 1 and post 2

    And here are the pics of mine, case number is 1082 in 14K gold, most probably not by IWC.

    Beautiful piece Tonny.
    I guess Mr. Elias from Amsterdam imported it in 1888, as you found it in Holland.
    Mr. Elias was probably in those days the only wholesaler for IWC watches.
