I have just purchased my first IWC - after quite a few years of looking,
discovering and learning I decided to take the plunge.

My interest in time pieces first really manifested itself in the early 90's
when in working in Saudi. I bought a Tag Heuer for myself and my brother. It
was he who introduced me to IWC at a jewellers in Norwich around 1997, he
spotted a pre-owned 70th Anniversary Spitfire which I noted but did not take
further - much to my everlasting frustration. Since - my watch collection has
grown to include Omega, Breitling and Heuer timepieces.

In 2000 we embarked on a european driving tour taking in Switzerland and in
particular we stopped off at Schaufhausen and IWC - which unfortunately was on
a Monday - the museum was closed but after a chat they opened it up for us and
we spent a few very previlged hours talking to people behind the scenes.

Now in my early 60's I decided to fulfil my dream of owning and starting my
IWC collection. I have always had a connection to the Spitfire and purchased
my entry level Spitfire Chronogrph IW387903.

I continue to look for the elusive Spitfire 70th Anniversary - one day......

We have an interest in motorsports and we have quite abit of involvement with
Goodwood and in particular the GRRC - the connection with IWC is very evident.

Meanwhile, I shall learn more about IWC with help with this forum.

love the 41mm chronographs with IWC's new 69 caliber movements, a fine watch
    you have there indeed!
