IWC Schaffhausen is again recognizing the high-flying excellence of the Patrouille Suisse with a special edition for 2015. The pilots of the Swiss Air Force display team have been wowing international air show crowds for decades with the precision and perfection of their formation flying. This year IWC is recognizing the exceptional flyers of the Swiss aerobatics squadron with a Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Patrouille Suisse”, a special version of the iconic watch first produced in 1940 which will be limited to 250 watches.

GraduateI love that it combine the classic Portuguese's element into it's signature pilot series and top it up with beautiful gray sun ray dial. This design should also made for regular collection. Is it 48 mm? What is it made of? The matt gray case from the photo looks like Titanium to me.

The question may not be relevant with regard to IWC as a watchmaker, but it certainly is for IWC as a company: Breitling also has its own Patrouille Suisse watches - does this mean that these partnerships are not exclusive?

To answer previous questions, this case has a special blasted stainless steel in a grey color, and it is 46mm in diameter (I'm guessing 46.2 but the press release says 46mm). It will be available in Switzerland starting in September, and later at boutiques worldwide.
I do not know what licensing agreements IWC or other companies have with Patrouille Suisse.

ApprenticeI am happy that IWC did not apply this massive flow of special editions to the 5002, which in my eyes still is the only watch to represent the Big Pilots watch of IWC - apart from the B-Uhr.

Michael, was it released it Switzerland in September as expected? I haven't seen any post purchase photos from anyone or heard that anyone has one yet. I know it has not reached the US yet but is expected to start arriving soon through February 2016; but I am sure you would know more than me.
