I think this is quite a good looking watch! The big date looks like the big date on some Glashütte Original watches, which is good, I consider it the nicest big date on the market.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Personally I think it looks great. Never been a huge fan of the Portifino line but I am certainly coming around.

This latest offering has certainly elevated the Portofino range a notch up and I can see direct competition with other fine watches from other manufacturers with the similar specification. I must say IWC did this with style.

What are the prospect of this model being offered in stainless steel in the near future, I wonder?

I like it very much, beautiful piece. Much more than the actual model. This one has more symmetry.

IMHO, the dial has better balance than the dial in the original model. As usual, I find the ardoise dial/white gold case combination especially captivating. I wish it were 2-5 mm smaller...

A fine looking watch. My preference would be to have the power reserve on the reverse side (a la Portuguese 8 day) which would give perfect symmetry. A large date window for those with failing eyesight is an enhancement.

Looks to be just gold not SS, definitely priced above my range so wouldn't bother.

In future versions, how about moving the power reserve back and adding a moon phase? that could go head to head with Glashutte large date/moon phase dials.

It's a beautiful thing. I really rate it. Was lucky enough to try it on in the Schaffhausen Boutique today.

Our foreign correspondent Jarrod giving Forum members a first hand look at a teriffic and IMO excellent upgrade.

Thanks IWC for the Big Date and Jarrod for showing how easy it is to read.

It is good timing to be in Schaffhausen as some updates are released. I can definitely recommend this one, it is really nice on the wrist.

Thanks for the wrist shot Jarrod.

The big date certainly is easier to read and is a sensible design decision given that it may better cater to the market likely to be interested in this product line.

For what it's worth, I actually prefer the layout of the original Portofino 8 day power reserve. I think Clemens posted a wrist-shot once with the white dial model (white shirt/blue check cuff next to it) and the balance strikes me as more restrained. All the technicalities are handled on the lower half, leaving the top half of the face for the IWC Schaffhausen branding. At the same time, I really liked the way the PORTOFINO name led the eye to the date window at 3 o'clock.

    It has such understated elegance.

    sigh

    One day.

Is this the revenge phase for the communal enabling??

It would be interesting to see the older 510107 and the 516102 (both red gold) side by side.
