...and it's about the winding of watches. Written by Boris Schneider, you can read it by clicking here.

    Great read!

It would be nice if there was some diagrams showing the parts they were talking about (for those of us new to the world of automatic watches such as my self).

But im sure i can google that type of stuff.

A great read - always entertaining to read about the science and engineering behind our watches.

Excellent read. As people have mentioned, more content along these lines would be great. A full and in depth explanation of IWC's perpetual's inner workings would be nice.

    Cheers,

    Jarrod

Thanks Michael. That's a good read! I've always been interested in hand-wound calibres and IWC can easily put my wallet in danger should they continue with the good works just like the calibre 59xxx.

On a separate note, the article does make me feel guilty about picking up another chocolate bar. 1.3m distance is just about the right distance from the candy jar to my mouth...

I agree. Interesting read but if you don't already know a lot about what the article is about, it's not easy to fully understand it. It would definitely benefit from some more illustrations of the key points they are making.

In general, I've found this a very good place to learn. Some very good articles about keyless works, motion works and more.

Thomas! Brilliant! Just had a quick look, saw the Perpetual link, excellent. Plenty of reading. Thanks again, great link.

That video is great! Makes it a lot clearer as how movement of your arm, backwards or forwards, helps "store" power.

Excelent read - and fantastic to hear that IWC continue to improve even on the already tried and tested Pellaton mechanism!
