    Hello everyone!

Greetings! Been reading a lot of interesting stories and moments from this forum and I must say I have learnt and enjoyed every article - so thank you

At this point, I am still looking for my very first IWC and came across with this watch called "Big Pilot Edition DFB" and loved it instantly. Can anyone please advise the way of purchasing this watch?

    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers, SP

Hello and welcome to the forum! The big Pilot DFB is a limited edition piece (I believe 250 made for sale through IWC boutiques only) that most likely is sold out but may be found on the secondary market. Check with your nearest boutique first, you never know, but you may have better luck on an online auction site or one that specializes in used timepieces.

    Thank you kindly Ben.

Tried those websites and surely if its 250 specially made then I might need lots of luck : )

Indeed, the DFB was a LE of 250. I believe I got one of the last ones available from a Boutique. They will appear in the resale market, I would guess. Good luck. It is my favorite BP.

    Welcome Sampan,
Having seen Bill's on Saturday I can confirm that it is an absolute stunner!
    Good luck with your search!

Maybe you could consider the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "JU-AIR" as an alternative? It will be easier to find and has a somewhat similar look. But it's not a BP.....

Good luck. The DFB BP is a beauty. Finding one second hand may not be easy.

Just have to keep your eyes open on all the "regular" resale sites. I have seen three different pieces offered for sale in last few months. Posting a WTB ("Want to Buy") may bring an offer.

Thanks for your help Dick - mind sharing which particular website you referred to? Apology as I am really new to this and might have limited knowledge....

    Thanks again.

Just to confuse matters, you might want to also consider the earlier white-dialed version too. The 'Tribute to Japan' LE of 100.

Wow - what a great pair! I did´nt know there was such a beautiful Tribute to Japan. And Thang, in your posting from this GTG in summer I didn´t realize that the red hands were missing ;-)
Was the tribute before or after the DFB?

    Hey Christian,

    TTJ was 2009
    DFB was 2012

One of these days I'll get around to my detailed post about the differences. Excluding the strap, the watch itself has 8 differences (mainly very subtle).

    Regards,
    Thang
