    Congratulations!...

It is one of my favorites also and gets a great deal of wrist time. Thanks for the beautiful photograph. That's the pic I've been trying to take since I bought home the VC Ingenieur...and yours is superb!

    Best regards,
    Jim

    A very nice watch

I think it looks like a timeless beauty. And being able to see the 80111 movement is a treat too. It grows on me, so who knows... Congratulations, and enjoy!

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing its brother/sister, the steel VC Pilot's watch

    42,5 mm X 14,5 mm

So, this watch is not super big, yet quite noticeable. Under "collection" you can find all kinds of interesting information about the watch, but not (yet?) the strap size.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing rose gold Saint Exupéry Chrono, about the same size

    41.9 mm X 14.2

Measured side by side It is actually smaller in the real-life measurements than the Port Auto.

Are we talking about the same watch?

Assuming that we are talking about the VC Ingenieur (3233), both the 2009/10 catalogue and the "collection" data of this site give 42,5 X 14,5. I cannot believe that these figures are so much off regarding a real life measurement: what is the matter? Are you sure you measured well?

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch

    Yes

I measured IWC IW323301 Ingenieur Automatic VC in three different positions using very precise, to 1/100 mm measuring tool. The thickness measurement includes the crystal and width is without the crown. All three measurements were within 1/10 of mm of each other. The result that I provided is rounded to 1/10th of mm. As a sanity check I also measured the Portuguese Auto 5001 at the same time. Both of these watches were brand new and unworn. Interestingly Portuguese Automatic 5001 is both thicker and wider than IW323301and its measurements are actually quite close to 42.5mm X14.5mm.

Well, I am surprised: nobody else?

I would have thought that the measurements of the watches would be depicted accurately. In the end, it doesn't matter how big exactly the watch is, what matters is how it looks and how it sits on the wrist. Still, when providing information like the measurements, it might as well be correct. Anybody else tried to measure the watches? I don't have the equipment necessary for it, Joe240 seems to have.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch

Agree. Size doesn't matter, but accuracy does...

Accuracy is a prerequisite to quality and credibility. IMHO.
