    Hi all,

Just joined the community - should have done so a long time ago! I'm a proud
owner of six IWC's (2x ceramics, 2x perpetual calendars, 1x Big Pilot and a
gold Saint-Exupery). Hoping to learn more about each piece and wanted to start
    with the Carlson.

It is my favourite piece which I wear most often. The blue dial is a key part
of that, but the ceramic case is also an attention getter! Add in the limited
edition of only fifty watches and it's a great conversation piece.

However, I'm not totally au fait with the background details behind the
creation of this piece and would love to hear from the experienced members of
this forum! Any and all information is welcome!

I've put a photo in my signature. Apologies for quality, I took it a few
    minutes ago!

    Cheers,

    Charles

    Hello Charles and welcome!!!!

Congrats on the Carlson and the rest of your collection. Please share more
    photos, thanks!

I was also lucky to have the Carlson Doppel when it was first released. Sadly,
it doesn't get much wrist time but it's still very special to me..............

    PS. Charles, a little background..............

IWC had previously released a 44mm Ceramic Doppel limited to 1000 pieces, REF.
IW3786-01, with Black dial and date wheel.

Carlson is a well known Hong Kong watch retailer and this edition with the
Blue dial, Ceramic case and White date wheel was made exclusively for them.

The Carlson, at 46mm, is the same case size as the Top Gun Doppel but without
the Top Gun logo on the side of the case. However, due to the small run for
Carlson, 50 pieces, IWC deemed that it was not economically viable to create
and print a new set of paperwork, so all the documentation that came with the
Carlson Doppel reads as "Top Gun" (at least mine did)!!!!!

This is the only background that I know about for this watch. I hope it helps.

Btw, I immediately changed straps and wear it on the Blue Gator originally
    made for the
    Platinum Big Pilot :-)

So sorry. Thought I had a notification turned on for replies but obviously
    not!

Love the pics and thank you for the additional info. What is best place to get
    a value on this piece?

    Cheers!

I was lucky enough to get my lucky number Carlson back in November 2007. I
believe the original price of the 50 was $11,400 USD (or at least that is what
I paid for it from Carlson). I do not own the watch anymore, but I remember
how all my watch loving friends loved that watch! At the height of the big
watch days, it is a beast at 46mm! And damn good looking too with that matte
    blue dial.
