    Hey Guys,

I was hoping you could help me narrow down which watch I should add next to my collection. Last year I bought my first mechanical watch with the Pilot's Chronograph (3777). I wanted to diversify my collection by adding a Blancpain Bathyscaphe, the new Rolex Daytona Ceramic, or Rolex Deep Sea Blue or BLNR GMT. HOWEVER I just keep coming back to IWC as I love the Pilot's watches (who can blame me haha). I really want to get a Big Pilot. The black and blue dial as well as the Top Gun from the new models are what I am loving.

My question is do you guys care about diversifying your collection or keeping a theme to make collecting easier? Do you guys worry about having too many watches that are similar? I would love to hear some of your thoughts to help me make a decision.

    Hi,

This is a tough question, it also depends on your taste and for what situations you want a watch. If you have to dress up, something from the Portuguese or Portofino line would be nice. There are some pretty blue dial versions in these lines as well.

If you want something rugged and sporty an Ingenieur would be a nice addition, possibly on a steel bracelet so you can experience how comfortable these are.

Diversity in a collection can be a good thing but there is no such thing as too many similar watches ;-)

So, the choice is yours but you are on the right path with your decision to stick with IWC :-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Clemens already took the words out of my mouth.

I faced the same "problem" at the very beginning of my watch passion and came to a very satisfying solution: I collect IWC watches only.

This gives me both aspects at the same time. IWC is the theme of the collection and keeps my focus clear. I do not have to mess around with all the other brands. The product range of IWC is so well spread, that there is no aspect of collecting watches that I would not be able to cover properly with an IWC model.
This also delivers the second effect. The different watch families within the IWC product range offer really a great diversity. From sporty to functional tool watches to elegant and classy pieces everything is available.

So my theme is IWC and I have all the diversity in my collection I could ever want - from a single brand.

It's a nice dilemma I had the same, I started with the Aquatimer my first IWC experience then came the Ingy and I just had to get a pilot so I chose the Dopple Chrono

Am I finished probably not I think the new big pilot Lpp is stunning but what I do find is how people do appreciate IWC as a brand when you talk about watches

    Here's my trio

A beautiful trio you got there!
    Cheers for further additions. ;)
The BP LPP is a great watch too.

If you love pilot's watches and you want something special, you should give the Worldtimer a try. It is about as big as the Big Pilot and it looks fantastic on the wrist. The complication is unlike anything to be had by IWC, and it is great fun! It never was very popular, so it was discontinued this year. Still, I am sure some AD's still have one, so this is the chance to get one.

Would anyone happen to know if the 'Top Gun' strap will fit another IWC watch (the new Pilot Chronograph)? I believe the lug width is the same (21mm). I'm thinking it will fit with no problem, but curious if anyone has done this before.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much guys for the advice! It is making me feel more inclined to just keep a Pilot theme to my collection.

    Next question!

Since I already have a Pilot's Chronograph with the Black theme, should I go for the IWC Big Pilot Le Petit Prince? Do you think it can be versatile as an everyday watch or would you recommend the regular Big Pilot or the Top Gun? Should I be worried about the Ceramic for everyday use as I kind of rough with my watches?

    Again thanks alot guys!
