    Dear Aficionados,

Who might know more what it means if a 3504 Ocean 2000 has TESTUHR 3504 10 on
its back on the outside and no serial. Did IWC make test versions as they made
slight modifications to the body and the bracelet from ref 3500 onwards? I
assume so, but it would be great to hear more authoritative info on the
matter. I have obtained such a watch. The movement serial is 2420XXX and
    caliber 37521

    Regards,

Well, thats fits to a 3504.

Take it as a privilig to be an owner of an TEST WATCH.
Perhaps a lost or stolen real test model ?!

I would not expect details about the watch history, because too long ago ?!

The Ocean 2000 and even more the ocean Bunds have been built according to
    extreme stringent specifications.

Well known is the story that one of the Bund models ref. 3519 Minentaucher
had to fulfill severe tests against any magnetic flux from the immediate
    environment..

The technical director Jurgen King could not perform the tests in the IWC
building because there was iron present in the concrete walls of the
building. Therefore he did the testing at home in his garden! Several
prototypes and test watches were built before the final models could be
launched. These prototypes and test watches were never offered for sale but
seldomly they pop up without knowing how this was 'possible'.

As hebe describes there are different theories for their provenance, but they
    are extremely rare birds.

    . This
protocol I received from a fellow collector. It is the list that a watchmaker
had to use when an Ocean Bund came in for service. I can count 38 points that
had to be checked. One can imagine that the testing of watches before they
were issued was even more severe and time consuming.
