Shing, you'll have to get in line for that laureus BP I have been pushing that idea for years! I think it would sell out faster then the DFB. We can only hope someone is listening.
the dial - is simply exquisite. the 'subtle shimmering' is unlike the sunburst found in the white gold ardoise dial models, and the latest spitfire chrono in steel. it is a soft gentle shimmering that inter-plays with shadows, depending on what part of the dial catches light.
the tinge of yellow is very understated - but once I know it is there, my eyes hunt for it
Hi Shing,
Sorry to response late to this thread. First of all, congrats on the DFB BP.
Yes, I can't agree with you more on the amazing dial. Your description is perfect. "subtle shimmering" is the right adjective.
The stamped leather strap is a great feature. I would like to see it offered on other pilots. I would like to put one on each of my other DFB's. It would look terrific on any number of "sport" watches.
and u know what, I found out today there is a XXS strap (besides the XS, Standard, XL sizes) - but currently available only for the regular BP 5004/5009 editions.
As for the lume, it appears to me that the DFB and the Japan edition ( thanks, Tracy) lume all of the indices whereas most other BPs just lume the quarter hours.
Shing - I've read and re-read this post from top to bottom. From the early morning Monday tease - through to reveal and macro shots...
As for my response - I need to borrow from the armbands worn by the football players themselves and from the playing fields of the EU Cup sideboard markings - just one word. It read simply;
Ok - boutique staff tells me there is only one blue strap, which is the same as the one for the red gold PPC in the pic, as well as the ref 5001-07. The references for this blue strap are:
I think myself and Kevin are with for the Laureus BP. I spoke to the gentleman from Schaffhausen responsible for the Laureus models when we were in SIHH Geneva and expresed our wishes. Lets see.
Outstanding seires of posts on the unveiling of your latest baby. A gorgeous shimmering BP DFB. Its great that you we able to get a selected number as well - albeit 2nd choice.
Perhaps the mosit popular model of 2012 in the forum - and we were lucky to get a preview before formal release. Perhaps the two are connected.
Thank you so much Shing for getting back. This info is of great help. I wish to ask you another favor. You are the only one so far that I have seen with a Santoni "Light-Black" which I assume is a 22mm.
Questions...Can you paint a bit more of a picture by describing the Santoni Light-Black vs. a regular IWC Matt black croc ? Does it have "shadeing" and color variations like the Santoni browns?
The reason for my asking is that it is a option I would like to explore with the VC "Laureus" Inge and also as another look for the VC-AT steel/black dial. In your opinion, do you think the Light-Black Santoni would be a nice pairing for the two VC models mentioned ( they both take 22mm straps ) ?
I like your taste Shing and would value your feedback. I was at my AD a few days ago and saw the ( medium & dark ) Santoni browns. Spectactular !! We looked at the workbook but could not find a Light-Black reference number or picture...only the browns.
