    Good afternoon everyone,

I was curious if the strap adapter IWC stocks for the Ocean 2000 3524 will fit any 3524 with the bracelet using pins.

They're telling me that even if it is a 3524 with the pin style bracelet that it doesn't mean the strap adapter will fit.

Are there variations of the pin bracelet on 3524s?

    Thanks guys!

    -Peter

    Hi Peter,

There were several different bracelet generation style used over the years for the Ocean 2000. The 3524 should have the later style, like shown in the pic.

    Thank you for the reply!

After opening it up, it is actually a 3504 based on the inside of the case back.

Perhaps the case was replaced. I heard they keep the original case back to retain the serial number.

If this does in fact have a gen 3 pin style case / bracelet and IWC only stocks the gen 4 strap adapter, will it work on the gen 3 case / bracelet. IWC has doubts.

I've sent them the serial number and seeing if they can figure out more about what has been done to the watch.

    Thanks,

    -Peter

    Hi Peter,

Gen 3 and 4 are almost the same and a bracelet Gen 4 works easyly with Gen. 3 case!

I have Gen. 3 and 4 bracelets and they work both fine with my 3529 and 3319 Ocean Bund.

    Greetings Martin

Best news I've heard all day!

I have the strap, just not the adapter yet. That's how I want to wear the watch. I'm just not a fan of bracelets.

Also the watch was missing the Ocean link. It's a bit of a bummer for completeness. I've heard sometimes when watches would go in for case / bracelet changes Ocean links might not have been available and normal links were used entirely. A bit strange but makes sense.

I'm also having a service done Monday. It's running a bit off... It won't register on the timegrapher.

    Thanks again,

    Peter

    Martin,

    One more question...

The watch is off with the watchmaker right now having some things done.

When it gets back I'll size the bracelet and then switch over to the velcro strap.

I can't find what the procedure for removing the pins in the case / bracelet is?

On my GST Aquatimer 2000 you just depress the middle button and push the pin out.

Not really sure of the method of doing it on a gen 3/4 bracelet. I don't want to mess anything up...

    Thanks again,

    -Peter

    Hi Peter,

There is a special black/red bracelet tool marked: Porsche Design by IWC. The tool was delivered with the watch.

Also the manual of the 3524 shows how to adjust the bracelet.

    Greetings/ Grüße Martin

    Martin,

I don't have the tool with the watch.

Will something like this work? It has some longer pins included.

Also are the bars directional, or can they be removed / inserted in either direction?

    Any other tips?

I'm getting the watch back from the watchmaker this week along with the strap adapter links.

    Thanks again,

    -Peter

    Hi Peter,

That tool should work. If my memory is correct, the pins can be pushed out to either side. Will Check and shall revert

    Thanks Martin!

Also, I just got the strap adapters and IWC just supplied normal bracelet pins with it.

I had some generic spring bars which fit... I asked IWC is they had the correct spring bars for the strap endlinks, waiting to hear back.

Am I correct that the strap endlinks take spring bars?

IWC also sent an "Ocean" branded link which my bracelet did not have, so that was an added surprise!

    Thanks again,

    -Peter

Good to hear that you got the missing Ocean link.

Yes, the velcro strap attachment links work with a spring bar. But not the normal ones. Will make a pic tomorrow and post it.

I haven't heard back from IWC yet about the spring bars.

I guess the Swiss are on holiday today :)

Here is the strap on the strap endlinks with generic spring bars...

    Martin,

Can the pins be inserted and removed in either direction?

Also, any tips for pushing them back in?

    Thanks,

    -Peter
