The completely remodelled 2013 Ingenieur watch collection from IWC Schaffhausen focuses entirely on its new partnership with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.

For the next three years, the watch manufacturer will be the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-Benz works team. For the new collection, IWC’s design engineers took their inspiration from Formula One™. Materials typically used in motorsport, such as carbon fibre, ceramic and titanium, are the hallmarks of a new design line in the Ingenieur watch family. The technologically demanding workmanship confirms the reputation of IWC Schaffhausen as a company that has been manufacturing top-quality timepieces for more than 140 years.

A brave and radical collection, in my view. A major shift from Plastiki, Mission Earth and other sustainability themes to an all out embracing of Formula 1 indulgence. As a lifetime fan of F1 and someone who has had a close affinity to the Brackley-based team, there are several models in the new line up which I look forward to seeing. I have no doubt that this relaunch of the Ingenieur collection will prove to be a huge marketing success for IWC. The dual time Ingenieur and the constant force tourbillon are particularly mouth watering. Some models clearly eschew the "less is more" philosophy of successful automotive engineering. It will be an unforgettable show for the Forum members who have been invited to SIHH.

Exactly. Seems like the sustainability theme did not generate enough interest. I still hope though that IWC itself stays CO2-neutral, despite this shift.

Magnificient! I was not such a big fan of this line in general but after such a re-design I'm stuck deeply in it :o) Great work IWC.

What a sensation, all of them! The constant force tourbillon is so far out! And one of the best digital dates so far, how appropriate to house one in an Inge. Is the brown dial tha Silberpfiel? Wow and cant wait to see these in the flesh!!!

    Cheers,
    Evan

Correct, less former IWC Ingenieur DNA, IMHO.
Except the 40mm Ing with its indices similar to the ref. 3228, the design of the actual Ingenieur models is more redolent of HUBLOT. A great F1 sponsor, too.

    Kind regards

Exactly my initial thoughts also, Hajoth. At the end, there are many brands who base their models on the Genta design. IWC would have the history of antimagnetic watches in addition, but this DNA is obviously less interesting when I look at the backs of all those new models...

By the way, in case you haven't looked yet, all of the new models now appear in the Collections section of the website. Do youself a favor, go to the Silberpfeil page and click the Enlarge link to see that dial up close. Wow!

Love the 40mm, the Silberpfeil in silver and the ceramic in brown. The other novelties at first glance wouldn´t be awkward on the Hublot range so I think I´ll have to wait and see some real photos to make a judgment. Great diversity anyway... Kudos to IWC

I'm encouraged by the presence of a 40mm model, and at only 10mm thick, perhaps signs of a shift away from the 'tuna can' design theme of the last 5-6 years. Being a traditionalist, I still decry the presence of display backs on the Inge's, IWC has plenty of other lines to use those on.

Where can we get details on the movements used? I haven't looked hard yet, but didn't see much info on that.

    Vroom Vroom Vroommmmmm!

The line up for the new ingenieurs are making my heart pumping faster....it definitely looks sportier than before.

I am stunk by the INGENIEUR CHRONOGRAPH SILBERPFEIL in brown, it is definitely a must grab!

Hope to get real photo of it from the guys attending the SIHH.

I don't know how you have done it yet again, but you have completely blown me away with your complete reinvention of a classic, bringing it into modern times without loss of core characteristics. My compliments.

Oliver & IWC - brilliant stuff!!

As an engineer and a life-long F1 entusiast this collection is fantastic - as Allan I really love the use of the exotic materials (and I don't mean gold and platinum :-)). Nothing is wrong with titanium and carbon fibre!!!

What a wonderful new collection, congratulations to IWC for all these new models and new materials. After reading the introduction about these materials I thought it might be nice to have a 40 mm antimagnetic Inge with a Titanium case.

I am looking forward on seeing all these models in real life although this will probably not be any time soon.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens
