    Hello everybody.

Since four weeks ago I'm the proud owner of a pilot chrono 377710. I still can't stop looking at it on and off my wrist, enjoining every piece of its beauty.
Anyway just yesterday, while I was winding it manually, I noticed that the rotation plane of the crown was unusually "tilting" instead of being parallel to the case.
When the crown is still it is wobbling a little bit, I can tilt it about 1mm from its position in every direction. This happens in all the three position when it is unscrewed.

Everything else is just working fine, winding, adjusting the date and time and the watch is as accurate as +1 each day, of course I did never hit anything with the watch, I took extreme care of it.
Maybe a couple of times, while I was screwing down the crown, it did stop in the middle of the way, without being completely locked to the case.
I did just unscrew it and then properly screw and secure it to the case.

Is this wobbling something I should be worried of? Should I show it to my AD and possibly be sent to IWC to be inspected or repaired?
I tried taking pictures of the issue, but they do not give the idea of the behavior.

I'm sorry if it is a nooby question, but it is my first automatic watch and I do not know if this is something ordinary or not.

Thank you anyway in advance for your reading.

    Love this forum.

From my experience, the crown should not be wobbling at all. If I were you, I would send it for inspection as soon as possible. Water or dust might get into the case.

    Got it!
Thank you very much for your comments, appreciate very much.
Even if it feels completely ok when screwed down, I'll bring it to AD for inspection this Saturday.
Let's see if they'll ship it back to IWC.

    Update.

Went to the AD this morning. They said it seem to be ok but were not sure, then they picked up a new 3777 from the shop window.
It had the same wobbling crown.
So I suppose this wobbling is normal and it is due to avoid mechanical stress on the stem.
They say to keep a look on it and then, just in case I would not feel comfortable with it, send it back to IWC (Milan) in September. It would take 2 months just to check...

Beside this I had an huge misadventure, I put on on my wrist a big Pilot, I was curious.
Can't get it out of my head...

Did your AD also say that they will replace the watch if their "keep a watch" on it is incorrect information? I am yet to encounter a wobbling / loose crown pin.

Thank you Christian. You're totally right, the virus is spreading fast, I've already finished all the videos on Youtube.
I think that with the watch I've also purchased a sort of "disease", a serious one with only one cure.

Thanks for your comment WatchJunkie. My AD never told me about replacement watch.
Is it something I should expect or is it something that depends on the AD?
I was also surprised when even the second pilot had a wobbling crown but that's it (scratching head).
Anyway I'll wait until September to consider an IWC check on it, here in Italy everything is shut down in August, so waiting would be 3 months at least.

    Cheers

    Luca.
