I recently purchased a Pilot Chronograph and watched somebody try to set the day/date while the time hands showed 12:00. I have read up on the forbidden zone of setting this feature between 9PM and 3AM. I am unsure if the day adjustment was during 12 AM or PM. Everything seems to be working fine now, but I can’t help but wonder if any damage was done. Is there any way to know if any damage to the movement occurred?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi DNOAH,
I can't help with your question, but am trying to understand the Day/Date problem also.

My pilot watch (IW377714) which i bought in March has been with the service centre for the last 2 months. I sent it there because of problems with the Day/Date adjustment. In my case I found out a couple of days ago that the service centre are saying the damage is due to an external knock that the watch apparently (in their opinion) received. So I'm trying to understand a couple of questions:
    - Firstly, How susceptible are the pilot watches to movement damage? I only found out abut this Day/Date issue when I received the feedback from the service centre
    - Secondly, What type of knock would be sufficient to damage the internal movement? This watch has only been worn a handful of times (it was a present and my everyday watch is an Omega Seamaster GMT - had it for a while now and it's very robust) and i can't remember any significant knocks.

Again, sorry if this isn't specifically related to your inquiry, but I'd also appreciate comments and feedback from other forum members.

    Regards

    Hello Dnoah,

first of all congrats on your watch, I did the same choice.

Then if any damage occured to your watch, you would see either the Day/date display misaligned or wrong combination after the midnight (one of day or date windows would not jump into position).
Until you do not see any of this, everything is working fine. Nothing is related to the accuracy of the movement.
I did once set the date during the forbidden hours, almost 2 years ago, lucky nothing happened.
Glad to have a strong and reliable movement.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers.
