The Pisa dial appears to have been inspired by...

this vintage dial from a Ref 325 with cal 74. The most beautiful dials IWC has made appear to be in the past. Congratulations on this acquisition. Wear it in good health.

    Beautiful dials available today

In the past some wonderful dials were made, in case of the Pisa almost by accident: just to make something different as a special edition, although apparently inspired by the past. In the current collection it is the VC series that appeals most to me. And the simple hand-wound Portuguese, they are very nice too, although I wonder whether those small red accents are really necessary to sell more of them. They don't disturb me so much, but by making them black these watches would classify easier for eternal, timeless masterpieces.

Almost all these beauties were slow sellers in their time, is it only the small community of this forum that appreciates them for what they really are? Beauty is not the recepy for a selling success, apparently, and what is, is a secret for me.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing titanium quartz GST Chrono: I am going to live dangerously this afternoon, sitting on a small motorcycle (Solex) for a few hours

    Let me add

a belated congratulations to you on this pick. A great-looking watch and a great story as to how you got it. In a world in which watches seem to shout ever louder for attention, this PISA cuts through the noise with its restraint and class.

    Best, J.
