I'm in Kiev and I just saw the news about Plastiki

It's great to see how IWC is sensible to environmental issues, from using "green" electricity in IWC schaffhausen to the potential of re-using(rather than recycling) plastic for new applications.

Ciao from Kiev (on a business trip), proudly wearing CFI 11

Would have liked to have been there

but no time for the 1740 kilometer round trip.

Let's see if we can all cut down on using plastic.

    Thanks for the link MF.

    Cheers from the cellar

    Cutting down using plastic

I really like that. At work we can choose for coffee: a hotel china cup that will be washed every day, or a one time plastic cup. I am told that the throw away plastic cup is not only cheaper in total use, but also better for the environment, because of the soap and hot water. My gut feeling does'n buy this, I use the china cup and rinse it myself during the day. If I have to use the plastic cup, I hang on to it the whole day. When drinking water on holiday in the mountains, out of a Plastiki bottle, I re-use the bottle by refilling it with tap water for a couple of days. I guess it is more about awareness here than about big results. But if everybody behaves according to this awareness, then we are making progress. Like big ships that already don't dump any waste into sea, like I saw yesterday on a tv-program on a huge Maersk container ship.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing plastic-less rose gold VC Portuguese
