    Greetings,

Have you been following the IWC-sponsored Plastiki Expedition? The raft and its crew have been celebrated for their historic arrival in Sydney after traveling the Pacific from San Francisco. Quite an adventure, and congratulations to all!

You can read more at the expedition website, which is at www.theplastiki.com/. Also, there’s a special platinum Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Adventure Ecology being auctioned. If you’re interested, please be sure to register since the highest bidder on August 7th wins!

Feel free to post comments about the expedition or on the watch below.

and since the auction closed on the 7th of August...

The Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition “Adventure Ecology” in Platinum went to the highest bidder for the sum of 30,800 Euros. It was sold to a watch lover from the UK, and all proceeds will be donated to the “Sculpt The Future Foundation.”

I am surprised by the amount, it doesn't seem to be very much. As with the latest platinum Saint Exupéry, I wonder why. Is the economic crisis still to be blamed, or are people not interested in such special watches anymore? Was enough attention given to these auctions? I think it is quite a pity, and not the right signal. Or am I wrong here?

    Kind regards,
    Paul
