Just received this as a gift the other week, and I haven't had much luck tracking down the model and age of it exactly. Unfortunately, the stores in my area have been no help at all. Can anyone help me out at all with some info on it? On the face it has "IWC Porsche Design", and has the 7 numbers on the back of the watch. I am really new to IWC, so any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Since I'm not sure if the images will show correctly so the links to the higher quality images are below...

    It's a classic watch

When it was introduced in 1980 it was the first titanium chronograph and the reference number is 3700.

You will find lots of information on the forum if you use the search function. It was avalible with lots of different versions of the dial but the one you have are the same as the one in the 1982 dealers book. It is easier to tell the date from the serial number or you can order an extract from the archive from IWC.

This year Porsche Design released an almost identical new version of this watch at the Baselworld.

It is a classic and iconic IWC and as was noted

it was the first titanium chrono in the industry. Here is a copy of the Archive report from IWC for mine and a couple of pictures too. Congratulations and wear it in good health. Welcome to the forum

    Definitely surprised Me!

The lady has been living in Switzerland for the past 20 years and visits here every year, and it came out of nowhere. I'm still shocked - especially since she said she "has a box full" and likes to "give them as gifts"

    Tough decision now...

Turned out that the watch was running anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes slow every other day, so i had to bring it to an authorized iwc retailer nearby me to get it looked at. unfortunately, they decided that it was necessary to send it back to IWC to get looked at and fixed. The jewelers seemed frightened to take it apart for some reason... IWC has had it for at least a week now, and i am still waiting on an estimate to get it worked on. Not looking forward to finding out the cost on that. After i pay to get it fixed up is when the bad news comes... As much as i love it, i recently had a loss in the family, so I am going to end up having to try to.... (ugh, kills me to say this) sell it, so that i can afford the bills for the services and to support the family. I'll keep you all posted on the verdict of the repairs and the story from here on. It is a beautiful unique watch, but family comes first! Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'm still unsure where exactly the IWC building is that it was sent to by the jeweler, Anyone with info feel free to shoot me an email. Thank you for all of your support and keep me updated on any other info you may find out about the watch itself... thank you much!
