I've noticed that my Portofino 8 day moonphase is gaining roughly 1-2 minutes every week. It's not a big deal but is it safe to periodically move the minutes back to adjust for the gain or will it damage the movement if I only move backwards and not forwards?

    Would appreciate your expertise.

Moving it backwards a few minutes is no problem. In my opinion it could only cause problems when doing so over midnight because of the date changing function.
Even in the manual it is written that when setting the time, you should move the minute hand a few minute strokes beyond the time to be set and then position the minute hand by moving it gently backwards until it is exactly above the correct minute stroke. This to ensure that the minute hand begins to move immediately when restarting the movement.

    Many greetings

I'm in agreement with all the above comments: reversing the the minute hand in small increments won't damage the mechanism. However, it's best to avoid changing during the midnight date change.

Thanks for your comments. I figured it wouldn't have a huge impact but better safe than sorry.
