I would like to start a discussion about the Portofino Chronograph design.
What is your opinion on the following : “Do you perceive the IWC logo with the Day / Date window in between as characteristic design element that defines the look of the Portofino Chronograph?” [b]What do you think if IWC would consider to relocate the date window to 6’o clock and go without a weekday window?

I think the current configuration of date, day, logo defines this watch in an important way, and it looks excellent. As with the Pilot's chrono as its sporty counterpart. I once bought a special version of the Pilot's chrono, one of the decisive criteria was the day: it are the small things that steer the decision.

So, I would keep the watch as it is.

Kind regards,
Paul

Hey Tony,

i recon for that to happen it would it would be an in-house movement... and that would be a huge step up from the 7750 in the portofino chronographer..

and I would not take the day date window to be a distinct characteristic for the watch.. it’s about the same layout as the pilots and Aquatimer chronographers... that change could be something special.. but it might leave the other side empty...

I don’t think that the day and date window defines the design of the Portonfino Chrono,
for sure it is a very good solution and design, specially with the IWC and Schaffhausen around it.
But for me it could change to the date at 6 o‘clock, specially since the movement might change to an in-house solution!

Still a very good question and i am looking forward to read the other opinions!

best regards, Markus

Without mentioning any details I asked at another huge watch forum by means of a poll which was the favourite position of the date window. After more than 30 hours 54 members had voted: the 3:00 position was the most popular with almost 50% of the votes, mostly for traditional reasons, followed by the 6:00 position with 30% of the votes, mostly for symmetry reasons. Even some lovers of a no date option made their choice for a position of the date window, as the no date option was explicitly excluded from the possible choices of the poll.

Kind regards,
Paul
