Hi, I'm a new IWC owner, just got a Portugese Chronograph. This is my first automatic watch, I was wondering can I use a watch winder to wind it when I'm not wearing it? And if yes what speed should the winder be set to? Thank you

    Hi AS42324,

Firstly, I am not a fan of winders and when my watches are off the the wrist, they rest.

Your Portu Chrono will have enough power reserve to keep it running if you take it off overnight. Your watch does not have a date so if it has stopped after being rested for some time all it would require is about 30 turns of the crown, set the time and you are ready to go. In fact, I find the selection process, the time and date setting to be a pleasing ritual.

Winders are popular with owners who have Watches with additional complications over and above a date. For example, annual or perpetual calendars. These watches become more difficult to set and it's preferable to keep them running, but that's a whole other debate, please use search function on top right corner to search this topic.

My advice is don't put your Portu Chrono on a winder.
