I bought a Portugieser Automatic about 16 months ago at an IWC boutique. So far it was on my wrist quite regularly, such that the power reserve never ran down completely.
Now I discovered that, when the watch stops running, the hand indicating the power reserve stops just a bit below 2. I tested that a couple of times and it always stops at the same position.
What do you think, should I bring it to the boutique? Is that under warranty?

Thanks a lot for your advices.

When I bought my 5007, the boutique sales lady advised me to wind the watch all the way to seven-day full, and then keep on winding for 10-20 turns. Yes, keep on winding. Do it a few times when the watch is brand new. I did just that. After owning the watch for a couple of months, I let the watch run until it runs out of power. indicator stops at 0 for me every time I let it run out of juice. Not sure if I am just lucky to have a fully functional watch, or that her tips really work.

In any case, no harm for you to try it before deciding to bring it back for service.

    Thank you very much, Kelvin.
I will definitely try that. By definition it may take a week until I have any results.

Since you are not in a great hurry to send the watch back to the shop (I hope), may I suggest you do it maybe three times (so, about a month?), and observe if the problem still persists, then decide if you need to send your watch back?

Hearing from you in a month. Hopefully you will have good news to report.

The power reserve now works as it should (I have done it three times). Thank you again for your help, very much appreciated.

I wonder why they could not tell me that in the boutique. (They explained me that it doesn't matter where the power reserve stops, as the watch won't stop running while you wear it. That wasn't a very satisfying answer for me.)

glad it works for you, and that your watch works fine right now!

Maybe the boutique staff didn't know, so he/she did not warn you about it? perhaps mine got way too many complaints, and decided to tell me right off the bat? who knows. Just enjoy your watch!
