    Hello,
I have a 18 month IWC Portuguese Chrono.
For a few months, it has been going fast.
Its about 12 seconds fast everyday. That is about 4 - 5 minutes fast every month.

Does anybody know what is IWC's tolerance ?
I've have heard that some brands accept 2 seconds per day.
    what about IWC.

    If anybody can help.

    Thank you.

From memory 0 to +7 seconds per day is IWC spec. Not sure who has a spec of 2 secs but one person will get a variance to another, by how active they are and how placid or active they are. So your watch is out of spec but since it's not going to make you late I would get it serviced before the 2 year guarantee runs out. your accompanying letter should state its error rate.

One of the causes for a watch running fast may be the balance spring / hair spring has become magnetized. Take you watch to most watch repair shops and have it de-magnetized. It's a simple and quick thing to do. You can do it yourself if you have a de-gaussing machine that are quite inexpensive.

If that fixes the problem, you will save a trip to the repair shop.

Thank you to both of you for these details.

I followed Bill's B. advice and brought it to my IWC retailer who sent it to IWC for full check up before end of warranty.

I'll see what they say on return.

    Cheers,
