Hi Ray,
Great you received it and I appreciate your honest review, I think it's great to get a balanced story.
I thoroughly enjoy mine:
Though the date-disc color doesn't bother me, I agree it would have been much better to match it with the silver dial!
The only thing I miss ('quality experience wise') also has to do with the folding clasp. I don't perceive it to be heavier than before, nor do I think it is not good quality, but I don't understand why it doesn't have an IWC logo on the inside anymore? For a 10-20k euro watch I really think it deserves some better finishing!
Here is some reference material from the past, see what I mean?!:
Best regards,
Bob
Congratulations Ray,
I like your objective review...seems that you are a real IWC enthusiastic, but you do also ask legitimate and balanced questions...
enjoy your new watch.
best,

I love it... Great watch and a very nice classic appearance. Tried it on a few weeks ago. Liked also the dark dial. Anyway you can't go wrong on this one.
Just a few more photos of the Chrono Classic this week from the shores of lake Como. I am co-directing an advanced study institute for a small group of recent junior scientists as part of a joint US-Italy research program. We try to meet every few years to go over the latest technologies and developments in the field. Mornings are filled with research discussions at a nice villa here and afternoons and evenings we get together with families and enjoy the lake and the surroundings. The Portofino would have been perfect, but didn't want to leave behind a three-day old Classic at home. My five and three-year olds are having a good time though we are missing the fireworks today. Happy 4th of July!
Greetings Bob,
Just a quick comment regarding lack of IWC logo inside the folding clasp on the new Classic. I too think the logo looked special on the clasp. However, I also enjoy the modern logo disc integrated into the buckle. This to me is a nice upgrade from the past buckle/clasp design. It certainly is now much more visable.
What do you think?
Andy
Ray...such scenic photo's and the Classic looks, well, just looks Classy. Portofino?.. yes that would have been a excellent choice too. Call me biased, but that Classic Chrono looks right at home and you made a great decision to take it along. Thanks for sharing a few moments of your trip.
Andy
Hi Ray,
congratulations, you have a real "classic" which I like a lot.
Great pictures and review. As you mentioned you enjoy the surroundings of Lake Como, globally spoken Schaffhausen is very close, i.e. 4 driving hours straight up north. Drinks would be on my account :-)
Have a great weekend!
very nice photos Ray...seems that scientists like IWC...may I ask what for research are you in?
greetings,
yitzhak
Thanks Tom, but family comes first, and we are almost on our way back to States now. Next time if I happen to be in Geneva or Zurich will add an extra day for a trip to Schaffhausen.
Ray
various physics, micro devices, space detectors, and lately developing nanosat technologies. Take care, Ray
I am new here looking for my first IWC. What is the model number of this

Thanks!
