Greetings: does anyone have any comment as to how long a "factory delivery" should take? Back in August I ordered a Portuguese Automatic (18ct white gold) from an IWC dealer, and they tell me it is still a week or two away…

Delivers are dependent upon many factors >

that vary from country to country, and even on a dealer level. 60 days is not a long wait.

    Good Luck

    I have been waiting for a 2nd Ref. 5444 >

since January. I have been told, "By the end of the year". We shall see.

Best thing to do if you can not wait, is find a dealers with the piece you want in stock.

    Good luck; it varies and...

depends on where your order falls within the production cycle and how the planned production has been allocated. It seems white gold watches take especially long (I waited January to the end of June for one) which might be due to dial fabrication from an outside supplier.

Because individual purchase situations are, well, individual all purchase issues aren't forum topics according to our rules. I wish you good luck on delivery.

    Regards,
    Michael

I read one anecdotal Internet report...

..which almost always in based on one sales clerk telling one customer when the store doesn't have the model in stock. I candidly don't bother to follow up on those, especially since I have seen this model being delivered in some locales. The case construction is identical to what has been produced for several years so I really don't think there's any major issue.

The real problem is that there aren't enough being made quickly enough for all locations throughout the world. There were several in stores in Zurich recently. Demand is especially high for this model.

    Regards,
    Michael

The high demand is only natural!

The Vintage Aquatimer is a very very nice watch!

    Kind regards,

    Good luck; it varies and...

Thank you all for your input; interesting to learn of other's experiences too. It seems 3 months is not unusual and (in a way) the wait is reassuring.

    Protracted Delivery

    Hi Nigel,

My wait was about 4 months and well worth it. Long enough to learn a lesson on patience, short enough to be instantly forgotten on delivery.

The photo shows the watch last Friday - fresh from my AD with tags still attached.

    Hang in there!

    Bob

Speed does not improve the quality of anything...

worth having. For additional support regarding the disavantages of speed, read Milan Kundera's La Lenteur, where slowness is tied to the act of remembering, and speed to the act of forgetting.
