IWC IW356802 SS Mens Aquatimer 2000M

Hi everyone, i have bought an aquatimer as described above and unfortunately I bought one without box and papers becasue I could not wait and also becasue I already have another IWC with box and papers but do not want to wear that one as a daily watch and this one is like my everyday watch. I would like to know
1.is the bezel made of saphire?
2.can the bezel be chipped/cracked and if so, how do you get that fixed
3.how can a jeweller confirm this is a genuine watch (do I send the serial number to IWC here and see if they can confirm the number?)?

    any answers would be appreciated

    Hi,

When I met with Niklaus Fumasoli, the Aquatimer Project Manager, in October 2008, he specifically called it an "outer rotating sapphire glass ring" (exact quote).

I suspect in theory it can be cracked or chipped, although I have not heard of that occurring. If so, a replacement should be possible through IWC service.

An IWC authorized dealer should be familiar with IWC models and able to tell you if you've got a fake. A photo here also may allow us to give you an opinion.

Hello Michael and thankyou for the quick answer. I have taken a few shots so you can see and please let me know if you think it is genuine.I think it is genuine becasue I also have the IWC Cousteau Divers watch and this feels like the same quality.

You can see the crack in the bezel and there is no mark of dent or chip anywhere on the case or the stainless steel of teh bezel ring.

Do you think that there is a warranty fault here?
Next question, can you find out if a carck in the saphire will allow moisture to seep in and affect the glowing section of the bezel?

Wow how did you manage to crack the sapphire crystal bezel? Was
It cracked when you got it? How did you manage to buy a genuine watch without the box?
