    Hello there everyone.

Lately I see some fantastic Cal 83 watches online. On Instragram, some friends
sharing them and via some dealers (mainly Spain for some reason)

Most of them are in fantastic two-tone dials or stunning gilt dails. And in
rare occasions they have the puncao.

Now I see these watches being listed with some different case styles. Often
refered to as " Hermet" cases. Now I see different style cases being listed as
" Hermet" cases, so my question is basically : " What exactly is a Hermet
case?". Is it just one particular style of case or are there qualifications
set by IWC to name a case a Hermet-style case?

From my understanding, Hermet cases were made in a short period of time. Is
there anyone who knows the exact time-span?

When did IWC started using the Cal 83? Was it a movement originally intended
    as a wristwatch movement?

Thanks in advance and don't be shy to share some pictures of your Cal 83
    watches!

    Hi Simon,

the Calibre 83 is a wrist watch calibre of 11.75 lignes (26.5mm) diameter. It
was introduced in 1935 and built up until teh year of 1947. The total number
of production was 69600 pcs.Cal. 83 was designed to be used in writs watches
and is the sucessor of the Calibre 82. There is a special version with a
different diameter 12 lignes and bridge layout, combined center wheel and
third wheel bridge. The later Cal. 83 are equipped with a incablock shock
resisting assembly whereas the early ones come with a cap jewel on the balance
    staff only.

The Hermet designation stands for ermetically sealed case.
