I am awaiting delivery of an R815a. It looks like one I bought in 1970 and that was damaged in combat. I sent the reference and serial numbers to IWC today but wonder if anyone knows anything about that model.

Hello and congrats on your new watch. It is a watch in the style you often see in watches end 1960's, early 1970's.
It houses the famous automatic cal 8541. -
