My second vintage wristwatch ...
was this reference 1818 calibre 854 of the late 70s. Fantastic dial, my elder daughter's favourite.

My wife's choice of vintage wristwatch ...
is this reference 2583 calibre 423 from 1974 not sold in the late 70s because my wife picked it up in Italy as new old stock - what a present. It is very difficult to capture the rich gleam of the linen-structured silver dial. Most definitely a dress watch so perhaps a hint I should take her out more ...

Where have all the Romans gone ...
I have a predilection for Roman numerals (not surprising then that I like pocket watches) and nowadays they are all but gone ... this is a reference 2401 calibre 403 also from the late 70s - now how about a hand-wind Portugieser with a similar dial ...
Dirk
Your oldest looks amazing
The dial ia a slight variation of the VC Portuguese (or the other way round) and it is extremely appealing to me. There is a double ring at the outside of the numbers and at the outside of the seconds subdial, very nice. And I like the hands too, they look like Portuguese, but it is not?
Kind regards,
Paul, wearing VC Portuguese (so the comparison was easy to make)
It is one of my favourite dials -
and you are quite right it looks like a Portuguese could look but it is not, being a calibre 83 in a very much smaller case, about 34 mm.
Groetjes, Dirk
yeah - got it too - Thanks for the pointer (nt)
Re: my oldest
I agree with Paul's sentiments. That is a very nice cal 83.
If possible and it is not too much trouble, please post side view and caseback pictures. Also, any story on how you got the watch would be welcome.
Best regards,

Calibre 83 of '46 ...
Thank you for the interest. To my surprise, I do not seem to have taken any photos of the case myself. Shown here are the seller's photos, which may at least give you an idea of what the watch looked like, before I had it serviced. As for how I came to have it - spotted it on the German section of that well known auction site and perhaps due to the rather less than professional quality of the photos and some inconsistencies in the description by the seller (who was not knowledgeable about watches) no one other than me seemed to have any interest in this watch. The seller answered all my questions and even had a watchmaker open the case back to find out and let me have the movement serial number and confirm that it had the INCA mark and shock protection. All in all a very pleasant find.
Dirk
Thanks. Even side view looks great.
Best regards.
