OMG, I've seen way too many of these to even take seriously anymore.

I must agree with Bill in his reply to a recent post:

"We have seen so many of these posts, is it a fake, that the comments here will likely just say yes or no, but not give any reason why we suspect so.  There is nothing to gain by giving the fakers a clue on what to fix."

I have to beleive that many, possibly not all, are a ruse so that the answers can help the scammers build a better fake that is harder to detect.

How about we just reply with "Real" or "Fake" only, which is the original question?!?!?!?!?!

OK, rant over, thank you for listening!

Better maybe would be not to answer at all. Or to delete those posts.

Sometimes, the forum is the first place someone looking for answers does arrive. Indeed, sometimes you wonder why some of the guys asking don't do research before, or even look at the current collection on the website, but some questions were made in good faith and are asking some assistance.
This is OK by me. Just say fake or real, or a maybe.
Indeed, we don't need to make the fakers more clever.
But still, any nice answer could be a start for a new passionate collector .

    I agree with Tonny

Sometimes before verifying anything, I have made the poster do some work by asking some questions to get background:
    1. Where did you get it from?
    2. Are you buying or selling the watch?
    3. What makes you suspect the authenticity?
    etc etc....

If there is no answer, I go no further....

    Speaking for myself (..)
I often enjoy seeing the fake watches (as they appear on the Forum).
sometimes it is hilarious how 'far off' some replicas are of the actual IWC-watch.
to spot the difference is (for me) rather FUN.
But if a forummer says (with good reasons) its a FAKE, and the posting side is arguing about it, it gets annoying.
Often these questions about fake watches (or not)  are asked by newbi's at the forum with one or two posts max.
they should not argue with collectors who koiw there stuff.
    (just saying)
    cheers

I am often tempted to respond "if you don't know enough to tell if a watch is a fake, then you don't know enough to buy a watch from a source you cannot fully trust"

    Couldn't agree more, Richard.
