After a lot of searching I still don't have a clear idea of how the movement comes out of the case of on my Cal 89. I have found the following, the "metal" ring will screw out, a partial turn will release it, and that the movement comes out the front. Would greatly appreciate any information on this.

Hello, I just posted the same question. I think I have a vintage IWC and couldn't get the case back off. I'm glad I didn't ruin the case. Yes, it looks like the watch will come out through the crystal. As to removal--I want to find out the correct way before I give advise. These watches are to nice to damage.

This through the case watch, at least mine, looks different than other through the case movements? If anyone know if in fact they are different, I'd appreciate your feedback. As to removal, I usually follow these steps, but would like conformation I'm dealing with a standard through the case movement.

    1. Bezel twists off gently. (I use a razor blade to lift the bezel up).
    2. pull the two piece stem from the movement.
    3. Remove the movement.

(I would not perform this procedure until a Horology expert familiar with IWC vintage movements confirms this is just a standard through the back movement---nothing exotic, just a standard through the case movement, with a split stem!)

Thanks for the information. I am going to investigate as per your comments. Currently had put this on hold but need to take another look.

    Excuse me??

You have not posted photographs that will help us to identify the watch you are querying. This makes positive responses from (us rich guys with fancy old watches) and a fair bit of knowledge, impossible.
