Hello. My Father gifted me his vintage IWC. I'm extremely excited to learn
more about it. I have the serial number from within the case. Does anyone
have ideas on how to determine model name, year, etc.? Any guidance would be
appreciated. thank you.

Lucky you! First, please show photos here of the front and back, if possible
also of the movement. Then we can help you.
Secondly, google DateYourIWC and use the number you have to get an approximate
age. Note that the number on the movement and the inside of the case should be
used in different fields. And these numbers usually are quite different.
