    Dear members,

I am new on this forum and firstly I want to thank you all for the advices I
    have found for 2 weeks.

I spent Christmas in my girfriend family in Poland and her mother gave us a
watch which belonged to her husband's mother. My girlfdriend's mother though
that the watch was a "Patek Philippe". After opening we saw that it was
actually an IWC and using the serial numbers and the dedicated website we
found that this watch was made in 1935 which is coherent with the grandma
    story.

I wanted to share with you this story and some pictures of the timepiece
because we decide to send it to IWC to restore it (and maybe found a proper
bracelet). The timepiece is actually working and we want to keep it as long as
    possible, as a family memory.

I'm only concerned about the dial, which is not similar to those I found on
internet (no brand visible) but it might come from oxidation or from a
replacement (maybe during WWII to hide the "value" of this watch to germans).

All advices or remarks are wellcome

    Best Regards,

    Nicolas

I cannot see any IWC logo on the dial.

This is unusual for cal.83 and a lacking logo is found rarely on a century old
    IWC pocket watches.

If you google "IWC cal. 83", you will see more than one hundred different
dials on cal. 83 watches : all have an IWC logo.

There were more than 66.000 cal. 83 movements built. It is easy to find an
original dial at ebay. It might be cheaper than a new factory dial and it
might also be that these are not longer available at IWC.

    Regards,

    Adrian,

    Hello,

Thank you for your answer, I'll look into Ebay.

Besides, maybe I misunderstood myself, but this watch is not a pocket watch
but a wristwatch without a bracelet for the moment. I was also surprised by
the absence of a logo (I mention it in my first post, maybe a voluntary
removal). I will wait for the first quotation from Paris before deciding
whether or not it will go to Switzerland.

    Best regards,

    Nicolas
