the first Big Pilot in very many years which has brought back the number 9... and with a lowered triangle. both changes of which bring it closer to the original B-Uhr grandfather.
Hello Ames - just curious, are you comparing it to another ceramic Big Pilot? Or do you think it feels smaller than the standard 46mm metal Big Pilot cases?
I guess the previous ceramic BP's were 48mm? So this is a reduction in size on those. Initially thought this was too shiny but the pics are making me think twice....
I've been wearing the Top Gun IW501903 a lot lately so it feels smaller. Although because of the dial I compared it to the Le Petit BP and the RD looked smaller. I think the bezel on the RD is larger and slopes in more gradually so the dial and crystal are smaller than on a standard BP. Make it feel smaller. My wife actually questioned it being a 44mm.
But I'm just guessing. I ordered it just based on it sounding nice and ever got any specs at all.
Great observations - thank you! It may not have been possible to replicate exactly the same dimensions of a steel case in ceramic and the dial and crystal very well could be smaller. It does look like the power reserve sub-dial on your Rodeo Drive BP is closer to the edge of the dial than it is on my BP LPP. Also, the refined dial design may play into it too.
