I recently got an IWC that was shown as 18kt rose gold. Looking at the caseback it's 14kt, and the finishing with the perlage isn't very good (streaky and not staggered) compared to what i've seen on comparable models (more even and staggered beautifully) along with some missing hallmarks on the caseback. And the hallmarks that are there don't match up with what i've seen (font is slightly different and edges of the top aren't rounded) The mouvement looks good and the hands look good (exept the seconds hand that's slightly bent), same with the dial. Though one of the lugs isn't straight either and there's some oxidation near the joint with the case. Also, the mouvement ring is polished and slightly domed with no stamps on it. When comparable ones are brushed with some letters stamped on it. On the caseback it looks like there was a serial number that was scratched off. What do you guys think about all this? Is it possibly an earlier model and what about it's authenticity?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Note: the lighting is very yellow so the gold looks much yellower than it actually is.

    Hi Pafeso,

The case does not seem original to me. The back cover should have a serial number and a probus Scafusia stamp. The combination 14 carat rose gold is also unknown to me from IWC. I fear that the case and movement do not belong together and were put together at a later date.

How can it be 18K.  Hallmark clearly indicates 14K.
