Forummer Vishal visited Hong Kong for the first time a few weeks ago (and picked up a very lovely Portuguese Pure Classic @ HK Flagship Boutique) but I unfortunately was unable to meet him given my home-confinement due to an eye-infection that period.

Just under a week later, Vishal msged to alert me that he will be flying into Hong Kong again due to a last minute schedule change, so what was Vishal's 2nd trip to Hong Kong turned into an opportunity for me to meet this very serious IWC Collector, with an impressive collection to boot.

It was a nice lunch hour 'at the office' lol...

For me not only was it a pleasure but a great honour to meet Shing. His knowledge about IWC and watches in general is immense. He is the first forummer I have met in person.

Here are pictures of the watches from our personal collection which we wanted to share :
Shing got the DFB BP & the beautiful platinum 7 days portuguese.

    i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/INDUS10/HK%20GTG/29846b4a.jpg
We liked the plat Regulateur too.

I had my Portuguese Regulateur handwound Ref. IW 544401 & the RG Ingenieur from the Vintage collection.

The thrill of being able to share my passion for IWC with some one who is even more involved can not be described by me.One thing is certain that he has greater will power to be able to resist not picking up the pure classic. I wonder for how long...... :)

    Vishal.

Question, I noticed in one picture, i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l497/vanhalen812/GTG_Vishal%20visit%2030Aug12/VishalFlagship30Aug1214.jpg

the back case has the IWC black stamp across the back, and I've noted it on some forum members' pictures and elsewhere on their watches that aren't brand new, do you guys not take those off, and then it bleeds onto the case?

    Thanks!

It does not bleed into the case. But the plastic is a good way to protect the back of the watch from scratches, especially if it is on a bracelet.

One problem with the stickers on the back though is that dirt and sweat enter between the sticker and the watch case near the edges.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

But even as Clemens says, I do tend to leave mine on the case back ....untill that problem of dirt around the edge arrives. Scratches are a part of owning a watch - and while that first scratch is always a tear-jerker in reality mostly it's only you who sees the scratch (simply look to it as "adding character" to your watch) as Alan writes that back sticker/cover keeps the scratches away just a little longer.

I wish I could be that philosophical about it, Mark. There are times when being obsessive is problematic. :)

@David, I can totally understand where you are coming from. I felt the same way too. The thing is the more you look at th scratch the bigger and the more obvious it becomes. So just look away. You will get over it after a while. It can always be restored when you send it in for an overhaul.

Vishal, great to see you enjoying yourself in HK. If you do visit Singapore let me know. I am sure there are lots to catch up.
