I have just purchased a ref 1828 cal 8541B and whilst awaiting it's delivery in a few days, was hoping I could get some background on the model.
Is the bracelet an original? I thought it looked very similar to some I have seen on some yacht club models - indeed Adrian's post here shows his lovely Yacht Club with what looks a very similar/identical bracelet.

On December 9, 2006, there was a post by 'Hebe' where MF responded with a link to the archives with great info on vintage bracelets. I tried to copy that link in this message, otherwise search the archives.
The watch is a truly nice find and seems in great shape!

I have looked at the 2001 forum link where Michael overviewed the bracelet options from the mid 70's+ era and my new acquisition appears to have a ref 13 bracelet.
So this is all excellent bits of info guys.
I guess if I keep this c.8541B collection pattern going I am going to have to look at a Yacht Club next - the thread of yesterday certainly shows the appeal of that model - though I guess operationally, they work just like my current ref 1833 and the new ref 1828.
Thanks again - I am happy to post some good images of the 1828 (once I get it) if anyone would find it valuable for future reference.

You're welcome, and about the Yacht Club
...one of its "claims to fame" is a special shock absorption system betweem movement and case. I realize this sounds appealing, but I'm not sure it works as well as advertised (else I would have thought it would be used by others). Still, when you state that the Yacht Club "operationally "is the same as your Ref. 1828, there's some collectors who wouldn't be sure.

In the new book about Swiss watches
there is a report on th e'club watches'.
It's stated that the Golf and Polo club don't have extra anti-shock though the Yacht Club has 4-5 rubbers to protect it against shocks.... so it must be there... somewhere in the case.
I can have a look at the German piece... and try to translate some more!

Yacht Club v/s Golf Club v/s Polo Club
Just picking up on Michael's point and having read a lot about Martijn's passion for Genta based designs with the 85XX series movement, which of the three above are a) more numerous as production items, b) perceived as more collectible and c) which would in turn determine which are more pricey in the vintage market.
I perceive that the SL's (particularly the Polo SL) seems to be a much rarer "bird" than a YC for example - but I guess I am just chasing some general perceptions on the models at this point.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't the Yacht Club also boast of a then-new crown tube sealing system that offered water resistance comparable to competitors with screw down crowns, without having to resort to that mechanism? And I seem to recall that this feature was unique to the YC, and not offered on the other Clubs.

like... and if you get infected... collect more of course.
I bought the first YC about 6 years ago. The Golf Club came 3 years ago while the Polo is only a few minths in my collection.
The YC is a daily wearer and the Polo and Golf are more for special occasions!
