    thanks Dimitris.

LOL. the same series as the one Nad and SC recommended, Leica D-Lux 5. Had the perfect excuse too - i needed a new camera that had a good underwater housing for diving :)

absolutely amazing. its a fast, intuitive camera, never-mind the outstanding lens. and to think many commentators say its "the same camera as the Panasonic LX5". they could't be more wrong :) it has a far superior sensor and the color contrast and tones are far far better.

Very beautiful pictures: what better recommendation for a new camera than these is needed? If the sensor etc. are better than in the Panasonic, and the price is about the same, well, the choice is easy. And a Leica label looks nicer too...

    Kind regards,
    Paul

thanks guys. I love the new camera.

heyhey KS, thanks for the offer - unfortunately I have to decline because of schedule difficulties - for work reasons I have to be around at the end of almost every month :(

I was last in Maldives over Christmas a few years ago (and actually got my advanced licence there) and I must say the diving there is spectacular (especially for the lazy diver who wants to dive in calm warm waters lol, yours truly is one such!). I have plans to head hack to Maldives but earliest would probably be this Xmas - your LOB (live on board) idea is interesting especially if we get to see palageics ? off on a tangent, seeing a sunfish was my childhood dream since six years old when I saw it in Encylopedia Brittanica and I achieved that two years ago in Bali !

Alas Paul, if only that were true ! Unfortunately the Leica is approximately double the price of the Panasonic LX5 :( For me, its worth the price though. I just returned from dinner, and glanced up to take shots of the crescent moon with ONLY my Leica without any additional telephoto lens .. well, look for yourself :)

Really nice, quite convincing. Until now I use a now 5 years old Nikon Coolpix: very nice when there is enough light, but not so in darker conditions. And pictures of watches are difficult, especially with a white dial. Maybe I must say: pictures of watches are difficult, period. If I cannot convince myself to buy a new watch, I might go for the Leica: far cheaper!

    Kind regards,
    Paul
