Hello all, This is my first post on this forum.  I am excited to finally be joining the ranks of IWC owner.  I have an incoming Mark XV that I purchased from a fellow member of another watch forum.  I should mention the seller has been a member of that forum for nearly 10 years and had a handful of positive feedback. He was very responsive, explained how he acquired the watch and used the right amount of watch lingo in his communications.  I truly believe he’s a legit seller.  There’s just one little thing I wanted to ask about here regarding the watch.   This is a very big purchase for me so I think I’m just a little paranoid, but comparing my watch (from the seller’s photos) to images on the internet as well as videos on YouTube, I’m just wondering if the 6 and the 9 appear a little close to the indices?  Or are they within acceptable tolerances?  In the photos of my watch they just seem ever so much closer to the indices than the others I’m comparing it to.  I really don’t think anything is wrong with the watch, I’m kind of just hoping for some peace of mind from the members of this forum.  Any insight or assurances will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much!

Thank you sir.  I am truly excited to own this watch.  I have been contemplating a high quality pilot watch for years.  I have considered Laco, Damasko, Stowa, among others.  Stowa was a frontrunner for me for many years and I still think they are beautiful watches.  I almost bought one on several occasions, but something seemed to keep me from pulling the trigger.  I knew IWC was the pinnacle and it was always on my radar but I simply felt like it was a bit out of reach.  Frankly, this is a grail for me.  So I waited.  I saved.  I sold a few other pieces from my collection.  Finally, the time was right and after considering various options in the Mark series, based upon the case width and the dial design and history, I decided the Mark XV was for me.  So here I am awaiting its arrival.  Any day now...

    Welcome to the forum KIWI71,

Congrats on choosing one of the best MARKS for your first IWC. Everything about the XV is IMO perfect. The size, font, hands and all brushed case. Should you ever want to pair it up for a change, the original " brick bracelet " ( 19mm ) is a work of art and one of the best bracelets ever from IWC.

Enjoy your "Grail "...your next IWC Grail is in the near future. You have been infected with the Uber virus for which there is no cure !

    CHEERS,

    Andy

It's a lovely watch- ask me how I know!! Possibly the perfect daily driver, I reckon I wear it around 90% of the time with the other watches in my collection sharing the other 10%.

The indices you mention possibly look that way if the dial has been re-lumed at some stage, which I don't think is a big deal at all.

Enjoy- your photo has made me want to go strap shopping for a brown leather strap....

Took me a while, but as promised, here are some photos of my new to me Mark
XV. I absolutely love it. Regarding the movement photos, I know you
shouldn't normally open the case up unnecessarily, but a local watchmaker did
a pressure test on it and it failed badly. At that point, I figured there was
no reason not to have a look. It also prompted me to send it for a service
    sooner rather than later.

Quick query here...shouldn't hr movement be gold-plated, or did this change
    during the production run?

Attached is a photo of a Mark XV movement...

Yes, it changed during the run. The gold plated is the original Cal 37524. I
read somewhere on this forum that case numbers 2900000 and under have the Cal
37524 and case numbers 3000000 and up have the Cal 30110 and those in between
could have either. I noticed on eBay there are some XVs listed where the
sellers specifically note in the title that it has the 37524 and they are
asking double or more the price of the 30110 now. Not sure if they are
getting it, but they are asking! My understanding is it's the exact same
    movement except for the coating.
