Dear Collectors and friends of IWC,
please see the new Special Edition Portuguese Automatic 2011 - Boutique Exclusive.
Limited to 500 pieces
One of the most beautiful watches I've seen.
Pure joy and flawless aesthetics.
Lovely. Seems that red gold with black dial is reserved for the boutiques.
I like this one very much.

Beautiful watch - if only there was a Boutique in my country, let alone near me so I could see one in the flesh.
I thought the same too and I am sure Paul will love this one too.
That would be worth a trip to Beverly Hills to see that one...beautiful!

Will be keen to see the real thing in metal.

This is a beautifulPortugieser that will be a favorite, I bet. I have one objection, not shared by IWC management, to numbering LE as one of XXX. this is not a special feature to me. I heard the objections, one of which is the company did not like to deal with the hassle of trying to match a specific LE number requests of buyers. I believe a luxury goods company should find a way to cater to requests of its customers even though it comes with a bit of effort. Having an expensive LE IWC that is just one of XXX is not special to me. Of course the ship has sailed here and I an just howling into the wind.
Bill, I talked to IWC's Product Management about numbered. It's different than you might think.
Essentially, the policy is governed by the markets. If, for example, a dealer has a special edition it can choose what numbering it desires. The more generic numbering often is due to Asian markets which have certain "bad" numbers or dealers who prefer to avoid hassles with special orders.
Hi Michael, I do understand there are several issues at play. But, not all numbers between one and, let's say, 1500 is a "bad" number to superstitious buyers. In my opinion, and it may be mine alone, is that being so generic is not really a LE, it's just limited production. Businesses and their resellers that take extra effort to offer something special, even when they prefer to avoid an issue or have to work an extra bit to get a special number for a buyer, are really doing something special and are adding marketing value to the product. I have no big problem with buying one of the One of XXX, if it appeals to me for design or functionality reasons. But such a product is not a special item or a LE to me. It's just one of some limited production.
This is not a big deal, it just strikes me wrong. I know IWC will keep making special watches that will appeal to many of us and but not necessarily to all.
I have heard about the "bad" numbers before. That is easy to solve. If the run is for 50 watches and a dealer thinks 6 are bad just make it a 56 number run excluding the six rejects.
As for not wanting to deal with buyers requests... I don't understand this. The AD, by definition, is a dealer. They are supposed to deal with consumer requests. It is what separates them from department stores and online grey market dealers.
Just my opinion.... I know the counter arguments.
That is drop dead gorgeous!!!

What a beautiful timepiece. A work of art. Some of the boutique exclusives are the most amazing looking watches. I love the way IWC express themselves in some limited pieces, knowing it might not appeal to the masses. Very cool
What a beauty! For my taste I wish they had left off the date though.
