Hello. I own a Portofino Hand-Wound 8 days(510102). I want to change out the strap but I'm not sure if I have the right tool. I have a Bergeon 6767-f springbar tool that I've used a couple times on my Omega bracelet and it works great. I'm trying to use the 6767-f on my Portofino but it doesn't seem to fit right. Should the 6767-f work or do I need a different size tool? I don't want to scratch the lugs or bend the springbar using the wrong size tool.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Quite often it takes a combination of different tools, proper lighting, watchmaker skills, experience, and lots of patience.

Of course, when a pushpin (a.k.a springbar) is new then removing it from the case can be quite easy. However, when it accumulates gook, rust, and/or becomes bent at the tips it can be quite a hassle trying to disengage it.

    Whoever said life is easy!

Well, the good news the 6767-S worked. The bad news is I slightly scratched the case. I guess I man handled it a little too much, live and learn...Btw, from what I could tell after removing the strap, the 6767-F should have worked as well.

The strap on the Portofino 8 day is by Santoni and is a coveted strap that people put on Portuguese Autos and Perpetuals and the like and it's replacement price requires you to be seated when you pay for it!

I love the Brown Santoni strap on my 510102. The strap I'll be occasionally swapping it out for will be a the black Santoni strap. Two Santoni straps are better than one I always say (as long as I stop scratching the case :)).

You had me concerned that you were ditching the Santoni strap for something like a NATO or some plain leather strap available at every jeweller in every city!
