Very sad news- what a damn shame. I am only

glad you and your family were not harmed by the scumbags who did this.

I can't imagine the horror - especially when...

I can't imagine the helpless, and violated feeling of losing your peace of mind - when then occurred as you were home asleep. Keeping an eye out for your possessions is the least we can do - I hope your family is safe, and healing from this trauma.

Tragic! Underscores The Necessity of Insurance

Sorry to hear about your loss – at the least the burglary was not accompanied by violence against you and your family which would have been the worst case scenario.

I don’t know the situation in Europe and Asia but in the USA, burglary (i.e., the unlawful entering of a dwelling to commit another crime therein – usually theft) is an unfortunate day-to-day occurrence . Moreover, I can say with confidence after being a criminal prosecutor for 25 years that longer and longer terms of imprisonment for apprehended burglars has had absolutely no deterrent effect at all on new burglars from taking their places.

Since it is realistically and practically impossible to thwart a determined burglar, your tragedy will hopefully serve as a wakeup call to other forum members who are not insuring their watches against all perils and for full replacement value.

    I don't know of words....

that can convey my deep regret for your misfortune. I can only hope that while a horrible instance to endure that it only involved items being taken and that no one was hurt in the process.

While I have no words that can offer consolation I can offer prayers of encouragement and that somehow you can start to move forward and recover from this devistation.

I am truly sorry and I can only hope that there will be justice and the theives aprehended

Lots of sorry's of course, but....

.....what can we do?. We maybe can help!. Like Tonny Berteloot said, there are many collectors who browse the web an visit watch fairs, especially in Europe.
So every forum member who is interested in used IWC watches should note the data of your stolen watches and look out for them . For instance the case numbers might be helpful. Instead that Jens publishes the case numbers on the forum it might be more safe that he passes these to the personal email addresses of those who want to help. So Jens, please forward the case numbers to me (as a start). I visit the watch fairs of Cologne, Duesseldorf and Houten and I visit ebay and chrono24 almost every day.
    Regards,
    Adrian.

I filled in the ....... for you (in my head)

It is coincidental that we updated our Insurance policy last week to incorporate our watches and jewellery - but I am very happy to pay the premium and hopefully not need to make any claims - ever.

    Stolen watches

can anyone recommend a good insurer in the UK for my Spitfire Chronograph? the quotes I've had so far don't seem reasonable.
