    Hello All,

I would say I know how to use a computer and I participate on other watch forums with no problems. However, I am having problems with the IWC forum and I hope someone can help with the following:

I use Internet Explorer (IE) version 8 and Apple Safari version 4.0.5. The computer is a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. The issues are:

    • each time I access the collector’s forum with IE, I get an error and the program shuts down.

    • Safari does not shut down when I access the site, but I get an error when I attempt to post a picture

    • On posting pictures – do I use the html link from photobucket and paste it in the main window? Seems when I do this and try the preview, the picture does not appear.

Are there any instructions on the website on the IWC website for the forum?

    Thank you for your help.

    Eric

Can't answer your connection issue, but

you use the direct link in, e. g, photobucket and paste the link in the image URL box below the message box. You don't use the html code.

Good luck with your other issues. Safari works for me, but is very slow to connect, refresh and upload. My PC with IE 7 works fine.

Safari has been especially slow lately

I'm having the same problem as Eric...

on my home computer running IE and Windows 7. If I am persistent, I finally can "stay" in the forum for a sustained period. It has been even more bizarre on my work computer since I returned on Tuesday. I log in as usual, everything is fine until I click on the "Collector's Forum" block. I am taken to the German forum instead of the English forum. In order to access this page, I have to click on the "language" tool bar and click on "English." My work computer runs IE and Windows XP. It certainly has kept me on my toes and made me dogged about "getting in!" :<)

    Best regards,
    Jim

I'm not having problems currently using

Windows XP and IE (not sure whether 7 or 8)

I can't tell for sure, but...

...I suspect it's either or both of

    a) a IE 8.0 problem --can you use Firefox instead?
    or
    b) an Anti-Virus setting

I will ask IWC to talk to the IT agency here, but for the time being I'd dsuggest you try different browsers, different computers (like going to a store and signing in or at a friend's house), etc. You can isolate the variables by experimenting, and it may be your settings which is harder to diagnose.

Thanks --and I'm really sorry you or others are having this problem.

I can't tell for sure, but...

    Michael,

appreciate you looking into this. I'll try Firefox next. My work computer doesn't allow access to the forum. As for friends, you guys are it :-)

    Another thing to consider

as much as I hate to admit I frequent other watch forums, I haven't had any problems over "there."

    Fully understood...

I keep telling the people at IWC that the best way to lose audience is to make the forum "user-unfriendly".

I sent this entire string to Schaffhausen and hopefully the IT agency will consider the issues. I used to have the highest respect for this agency, but lately I have considered writing their CEO directly.

Thanks for bring these issues up --we will do what we can. The new head of Internet Marketing started this week, and there will be major revisions down the road.

    Regards,
    Michael
