Hello Everyone,

Tomorrow it will be a month that I am a member of The Forum.

It was the first time that I ever decided to enroll and participate in a forum, or to be more precise, any "online" direct activity.

During the past month and despite the fact that I've been travelling a lot and that my time is always very packed, I found myself coming back to check the Forum again and again and even posting and commenting.

It has been a positive factor in developing my love for watches while stimulating my curiosity and expanding my knowledge, particularly, as it should be, on IWC.

For all of that and for all the other members that made me feel at home I decided to put my feelings in writing.

Like Jeronimo, I too am new here. Unlike him, I have belonged to many online communities over the last 15 years - woodworking, photography, architecture and, of course, watches. I must say that I find the civility and support here to be exceptional. It is truly a pleasure to check-in here each day and see what's new. The only thing that would make it better is for my VC AT to arrive so I can really be part of the club. So a big thank you from me as well.

Jeronimo, this is one forum that I have stayed faithful since I started as a member a few years ago (not that long ago actually) and still it's one where I visit first thing in the morning, over the weekends and in transit. Hope you can be on this forum 'perpetually'....There are many wonderful guys here, many of whom I had the privilege to meet on my travels. Just great to have them here.

I can only echo what the others have said - welcome on board, and it will be a great ride - people & watches evolve to friends & treasures & treasured experiences. It's a great community, and I've never looked back.

Welcome Jeronimo.

There's the world and then there's the world of IWC. Here you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about the Company, it's history, and any model ever produced. If the archeives (search option, upper right magnifying glass in black bar ) can't help with your needs, there are plenty of well seasoned collectors standing by to assist.

Again welcome. Enjoy your stay....no "check out" time here.

Happy month anniversary, Jeronimo! As my brother Argiris so aptly stated, the community here makes it a special place to 'check in' every day. Besides learning about IWC watches (an ongoing endeavor), I have had the opportunity to make friendships with some extraordinary individuals. Welcome and enjoy!

I used to relate a lot with other watch lovers while living in Europe, but in the past years living in Africa I've been finding myself more and more isolated on the subject. Its great to be in the Forum amongst all of you!

My wife was born and raised in East Africa. She is Kenyan. If everything works out, we will be in Nairobi sometime toward the end of the year. Perhaps....?

I'm staying in Maputo, Mozambique, not that far from Nairobi (in relative african terms!), please do drop by for a visit if you have the time! Although a bit messy nowadays it is a truly interesting place to see...

While I'm not knocking other brands (I collect those too, but not in excess like IWCs), it is reasonably easy to get your arms around the history, the vintage pieces and the contemporary issues from our favorite brand. The amazing hardback Catalogue that is published every year is a great starting place. I'm not saying you could do it in a month or a year (As Alan said, I learn something new every week!). I'm sure in IWC's communication department there is a decent powerpoint presentation together encompassing the breadth/mission/history and offerings of IWC. Maybe it can offered up to the members of this Forum.

I couldn't imagine doing the whole history/mission/vintage and contemporary offerings for Rolex, AP, Vacheron, or Patek, or even worse, Panerai. The only other one that might be easier is Lange. Of course, I'm talking haute horology brands here.

The nice thing for you Jeronimo, is the "family" here is willing to help you with any question you have. We were all newbs once. I applaud you for jumping in and posting and also for your patience as you wait for your VC AT. Patience is not a quality I've discovered in many collectors. For most us, "yesterday" is not soon enough, when you have a watch on the way.

I can only imagine the joy that will encompass you when your AT arrives. I can't wait to see your post! Your enthusiasm will probably cause Shing to bust his "this year's budget"(again)! LOL!
