Tracey! What a collection of BP's. That is awesome. I wish people would post more pics of their collections. I love seeing them.

    Cheers,

Like a moth to the flame, I know I should have stopped reading this thread halfway but having the same thoughts as the OP, I too am considering adding an IW 5009 into my collection.

    [i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/20140823_145633_zpsff98dd3b.jpg](s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/20140823_145633_zpsff98dd3b.jpg.html)

I was trying out all sorts of other models (just to be sure), and don't get me wrong, PPCs are great and so are other models in the IWC range, but the big pilot has a simple formula that makes it works. Nothing else quite like it!

Fantastic photos guys, very cool indeed.

Vincent, I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. It's the bold simplicity of the watch that just does it for me.

You can't go wrong with BP. I did the same 2 years ago and I am loving every moment with it. Buy early, enjoy early. Cheers.

Life is too short. Follow your heart....

The BP is a great watch. Say goodby to that "one watch man" - say Hello to the NEW MAN WITH AN ICONIC WATCH ON HIS WRIST - and a great swap our piece (for sometimes man needs a change) in the form of the Yacht Club.

Go thee forth and get it!

I visited the Boutique today and tried on the Big Pilot again along with the rhodium dial 'Father and Son' edition.

Tunnel vision kicked in once again. All good.

I will let the honeymoon period settle for a few weeks and hopefully be making a reveal very soon...

    Waiting in eager anticipation!

No pressure, but a DOUBLE reveal would be even more impressive! (steel and rhodium...) =)

A little story for the watch affectionados...and not sure if this is the place for this. Here goes:

Almost 4 years ago, I was fortunate enough to begin my IWC journey with a Yacht Club chronograph. I was certain that I would be a 'one watch' man and the Yacht Club would remain with me till the end of my time...until last week.

I recently visited an authorised dealer with my brother-in-law who is considering purchasing an Aquatimer. Whilst waiting for him to mull over his selection, I decided to try on the Big Pilot. I immediately entered tunnel vision mode, emotions overtook logic and the only thing playing through my mind was 'I WANT THIS WATCH!!!' I can't even recall what the sales advisor was saying to me, I was mesmerised!

Back home and trying to get back to reality, I'm now trying to decide whether I should adopt a second watch into my family.

I have a feeling that I am about to enter into watch obsession territory...!

Any view on the Big Pilot would be greatly appreciated.

haha... that's precisely why I will avoid visiting AD's and BT's unless I really necessary. :-)

Read my motto underneath my name.

PS: Resistance is futile. Go get your Big Pilot. You know you want it. There are different variety of Big Pilots. Get one that speaks to you the most.
