Hello Hans,
A blast from the past- it is great to see you appear here again! Love the
Portofino Moonphase Fried Egg. I hope you find the information you seek about
it.
Nelson
Do you
remember,
Nelson?
Welcome back, Hans!
How long you have been absent? 10 years?
Regards
Thomas Koenig
Imagine if it were the same? Well done either way, it is an extraordinary
watch!
Hallo Mr. Konig,
we last met at Cologne in the MALZMÜHLE if I remember well.
Hi Ben,
I will let you know if the numbers are identical.Like a young dog: a run away
in young days and returned as an old one :=)
Hi Hans,
How good to see back a dear watch friend.
I never would have thought you would return, as you were overwhelmed by
guitars
We are not far from Christmas and the oldies among us rember your Christmas
story about your legendary 'missing link', cal 98 Portugieser, ref. 325.
I have the feeling that you have never let it go.
Hope to see you back here.
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
Welcome back Hans, for sure not forgotten who you are. As Adrian, I loved the
story of your Portugieser find.
Hi Adrian,
I am curious if the Portofino 5251 is the same I selled appr. 30 years ago.
This 5251 also has a nice story: I found it by Google search in the Internet.
It was located by a juweler near Dusseldorf. So I phoned him, just to say that
I would buy the watch. He said there are more that 30 peaople who want to buy
this watch. No chance? When I'm stressed I am incrdibly good in reacting -
even lieing. So I told him that my father lost his beloved 5251 (in fact he
would not spent 100€ for any watch) on a airport and since then he is so sorry
about that. Next week would be his birthday I I want to paay him something
back of all HE gave me. The juweler was very impressed and said:" I will sell
you the watch - what a beautiful story!" The next day I had the watch on my
wrist. Oh after buying that watch I went into a bank to get me some money.
When I get back to my car I noticed: I had forgotten the package with the 5251
in the bank -beside a money automat. I hurried back as fast as I could - it
still was there!!!
For all who are interested in the real nice story how I found an original
Portugieser watch - even the so calles "missing link"

A dream for all of us, and a reality for you! Thank you for sharing this
great story again!
Nelson
Hi all,
it's not the SAME watch I selled 30 years ago. Of course it then has other
movement no. and case nos.
It is without any scratch, with a new black croco strap and a seperate clasp.
I am really happy!!!
PS: Maybe it's something wrong with the moonphase. I know that you have to
wind it up to 2 am and back to 11 pm and so on. But here you have to knock on
the crown a little bit and the moon "walks" one day forward.. Funny! I will go
to WEMPE and check it.

What a phenomal find - A true treasure!
Thank You for sharing this incredible story
I forgot about your incredible story. Thanks for sharing again.
Hi Has, great to 'see' you back again and forgetting a 5251 next to an ATM is
pretty impressive too ;-)
Kind regards,
Bob
Dear Mr. Goerter, Dear Hans,
We never met but for sure I remember very well the story of your Ur-
Portugieser find and all the details you gave about how you discovered it. It
might even beat Terry Russell's article on the KaviRama Jubilee! One can feel
your excitement and fear of the catch, very vividly. And I must tell you that
you had a lasting impact on my quest for beautiful watches; in fact, when I
saw a 1944 Portugieser for sale, I had your article in mind and went for it.
Thank you Hans
