    Dear friends,
I came across this fabulous piece at a local AD today while having lunch. I couldn't resist the urge to try it on my wrist and I must apologize for the poorly taken photo from my iphone. The photos don't do any justice to this exclusive timepiece (005/250)...and it's a heavy watch...

The new case with a diameter of 44.2mm does place this piece in a class of its own.

    Enjoy,

very nice - I love the very clean platinum hands and counters.

the casing remains the same though I think as the other PPCs, 5023s and 5021s all 44.2 mm, while the movement is shared among all 5023s - 51613.

Thank you for sharing. What a great opportunity to demo it. The new PPC II's bezel design in the 5023 is subtle - but differentiated and more "muscular" than it's 5022 sibling.

Thanks for the info Ardoise. One question: why was the 5022s discountined and only 5021s and 5023s the ones IWC actively sells now ?

And more importantly - besides the casing design, is there any clear difference between the 5022s and 5023s ?

I thought that moving away from the 5022 to the 5023 was a kind of efficiency operation: why have two different sizes when one suffices?

I am not sure the hands are made of platinum, as also the gold hands don't seem to be really gold: as explained here some time ago this seems to have to do with weight. But maybe this is not true for this watch. The same is sometimes the case for the markers, quite often plated.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

KS, thanks for sharing and very nice piece if I may say so.

Now, as a SE limited I can imagine it's screaming out to you - buy me, buy me! All I can say to comfort/calm you down KS, "this is not your watch"!

Your watch is slightly more colorful than this one - yet very much the same.

Now of course, if you did go back and buy that watch after seeing your own post - well what can I say? It's one heck of a watch and SE too - LOL.

    Best regards
    Mark

Yes. Paul is right. I believe they consolidated the 5022 into the 5021 case - so the only real difference between 5022 and 5023 is the larger case - so IWC can rationalize their case production.

I believe the hands and indexes are rhodium.

Mark, you are spot on! Don't worry about me not being level-headed. This is not my watch...at least for now.

I have heard some very good news about MY watch though.

You may hear from me very soon....

Hope you are keeping well and I look forward to seeing you soon.

There's a slight difference between the 5022s and the 5023s apart from the size of 42.3mm to 44.2mm. I think there are very minor changes at the bezel.

Thanks for sharing the story and pictures with us. It's a great looking watch but I prefer a bit more color too.

    Kind regards,

    Hello

Been lurking for a short while on the forums and wanted to ask a few questions about the watch being discussed in this thread.

    1) Do IWC make 250 PPC (in platinum) every year? I thought the only PPCs in white gold are being made this year, was very suprised to see the thread.

    2) Weight-wise how much heavier is the platinum over the white gold?

    3) I live in live in London, and was wondering if anyone knows of an AD who has this watch for sale? I have been to Watches of Switzerland a few times, they have never had a platinum model. Also how should I contact IWC directly to ask which ADs have this peice?

I like the white dial on my PPC and I am currently conflicted whether to get the 502218 rose gold or the 502301 with the latter easily 50% more expensive. Is it worth the additional cost despite the platinum and limited pieces?

have u also considered this piece ? I do not know the ref and believe it is platinum, and would very much like to know:

well, my 2 cents is that 502301 is Platinum, LE, and will be rare. Given that its platinum, I don't think production will become regular every year, a limited edition stays a limited edition - contra the Top Gun Double Chronograph 3799's limited production of 1500 piece/year.

I prefer the ardoise dial because personally I find adds to the "celestial quality" consistent with the principle of perpetuation - PC after all.

Then the weight: I find platinum to heavy on my smaller wrist, although this can simply be a matter of getting used to.

Whatever the case, if $ is not an object, how does it make u feel ? I still think one's gut emotional connection to a timepiece is the ultimate determination, and this instinct can make interesting "final choices/switch in choices" as has continually been the case with me - with the final switch being the inevitable concession to what the heart ultimately wants.
