Thursday, I left early from work to pick up my Portuguese Pure Classic in Amsterdam and also to have another look at the new Portuguese Chronograph Classic.

I really like their wall clock!

When I put the Pure Classic back on my wrist, it looked good but there was something missing. The black strap is too contrasting and I was already thinking of putting it on a brown strap I have laying around at home. With the great pictures and stories about Santoni straps on the Forum, I just had to ask if they had some Santoni straps in stock.

Esther went through a few boxes filled with all kinds of Santoni straps and in the last one, there were 4 dark brown Santoni's and a few black ones. One of the brown straps was for a folding buckle, the other three were the correct size for the Pure Classic. Together with Esther we tried all three by posing them on the original strap and comparing them. The conclusion was unanimous and Robin was so kind to put the strap on while I chatted a bit with Esther and had a taste of some cookies from Basel and had a look at a few watches from another brand.

The new Portuguese Chrono Classics are stunning and below is a picture of my Pure Classic on the Santoni strap next to the RG Chrono Classic. I think this one with the white dial is the best of them all!

In this picture it's not visible but it seems that the Portuguese Chrono Classic uses curved spring bars and a curved end on the strap which makes it look even nicer near the case of the watch.

I left a bit late and hurried to get to our little GTG in Eindhoven where Mark, Skule and I had a wonderful evening (read all about it here: A small GTG, three guys, seven full moons and a great evening!)

Since the guessing is now over, I can post a few pictures I took in the light of the setting sun.

For me, this watch has to be on a brown strap, it is so much nicer than the original black strap. When Robin handed it to me it gave mee goosebumps and that's what a watch is supposed to do!

That's all the babbling for now, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Oops, I just noticed that there is not a single wrist shot in these pictures. So here is one from the watch still on the black strap:

An absolutely clean looking watch, Clemens, very nice! I saw it earlier in the flesh, as often the watch looks even better then. The Santoni strap kisses much more life into the watch, it makes the difference between quite good and very, very good. Enjoy your beauty!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Thanks Paul. I am enjoying every bit if it now. Before the strap change, I had some doubts just like Whichwatch (Dick) wrote in his post about 'falling in like with a watch' instead of falling in love with it. I even considered a trade-in but now I have it on this Santoni, that's out of the question!

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

Looks great, Clemens. I quite agree, there is nothing like a brown strap to bring out the warmth of the gold numerals and hands, and there is no brown strap like the Santoni. Your combination looks terrific!

    Very nice indeed, Clemens.

By strange coincidence I have but on the same color Santoni strap on my Pure Classic. I'm traveling from Rome to Lisbon, and I needed to represent both Italy and Portugal on my wrist ;)

Magnificent watch and pictures. You captured the beauty of the Pure Classic and your Santoni upgrade. Like you, I really like mine on my two RG Portugiesers.

Oh, so very nice. Congratulations on your ever-expanding Portuguese collection Clemmens. That pure classic is pure handsome.

Incidentally, I was wearing the new Classic Portuguese Chronograph this AM at the Flagship boutique (Ardoise dial, of course). That black Santoni strap and curved ends at the case are a striking feature. That new Chrono is going to be a huge success.

I saw the Pure Classic with the dress up Santoni straps when Clemens came down for the Skule GTG on Thursday - and could hardly believe my eyes!

I have always appreciated the pure classic and it's classy lines - but what a difference a strap can make. Now. I need to get a Santoni strap in brown, for my Pure Classic.

It is aptly called the "Pure Classic" because it is indeed an elegant watch. Very nice pick, Clemens...it is truly a beauty!

I knew better than to open this thread.

I was making a decision between this and something else and I went the other way. Looking at those great pictures are not helping!

Great looking watch, Clemens and wear it in good health. That Santoni strap looks fantastic on it!

    Clemens,

The first pic with the HW and Port Chrono...you say that is RG ? On my iPad it looks like steel and I'm trying to get a mental picture of the new Port Chrono in steel/silver dial/silver markers on a brown Santoni. Your thoughts on this pairing Clemens is appreciated.

If anyone has one in this variation, please post as I am considering this as my next piece. I do like it on the OEM black Santoni, but I like to mix it up and a brown would be a nice option.

    Members...your thoughts also... please.

    Thanks,

    Andy
